Calling All Junior Umpires – Nominations for JCC & JSC Umpire Pathway Now Open!

Posted May 2nd 2012 by Hockey Victoria No Comments

Important Note -  This initiative is only for Umpires aged 14 to 20 inclusive. Officials outside this age bracket who would like to be involved at the Junior State Championships will be welcomed in a Technical Official role, full training can be provided prior to the Championships & without TO's, the tournament won't be able to run. Please register your their interest to catkins@hockeyvictoria.org.au

Over the past couple of years the Junior State Championships have grown so popular as a vehicle for Umpire Development that more Umpires want to be involved than can be accommodated! For 2012, we will be extending the pathway to incorporate the Junior Country Championships so that all umpires who wish to be officiate in the tournament environment and to receive umpire coaching can formally access it.

Registrations are now open to be involved in the 2012 Junior Umpire Development Pathway. It is expected that all Umpires who register will be actively umpiring within their Club, Association or local competition.

You can nominate by completing the online form available at this link - www.hockeyvictoria.org.au/index.php?id=521

Nominations will close on Monday 21 May.

CLICK HERE to view further information about what will be involved and what is expected of Umpires that register.

Scott O’Reilly (Mens U21 National Championship Umpire Panel) and Keeley Brown (Womens U18 National Championship Umpire Panel) will again perform the role of Umpire Managers throughout the pathway. As well as both coming through the JSC pathway themselves, Scott and Keeley have played an important role in mentoring a number of umpires who have recently officiated at National Championship Events (both HA & SSA) or who have been nominated to do so in 2012.

Overall, this opportunity is about providing you the opportunity to improve your Umpiring as well as mix with others from across Victoria who are also involved in this element of the sport.

If Umpires have any questions - please contact Scott or Keeley at the following email address – umpiredevelopment@gmail.com

If Clubs, Associations or Umpire Coaches have any questions - please contact Cam Atkins, HV Development Manager - catkins@hockeyvictoria.org.au
