Junior Registration Update
Posted March 15th 2010 by Roger Andrews No CommentsThe 2010 season now draws closer and all our Junior teams will have now commenced training as of this week. The Junior Committee is now in the process of finalising numbers for teams and age groups. We will again have an increase in players and teams for this year from the previous year. In the interest of ensuring that all junior players at Waverley have the opportunity to get plenty of game time on the pitch, that we need to place restriction on player numbers.
We are now currently fully subscribed to our U15 Boy’s teams so we are unable accept anymore registrations in this age group.
We have only 2 or 3 places left in U11 Mixed, U13 Boy’s & U15 Girl’s teams, so anyone who wishes to play in these age groups should register straight away or will be in jeopardy of missing out.
Also with the high number of boys who have registered for U13 teams, we are currently unable to fulfill any requests for U13 girls to play in mixed teams as well. If we were to do this it would have to be at the expense of keeping an U13 boy from playing this year.

Well Done Luke and the Kookaburras
Posted March 14th 2010 by Travis Brooks 1 CommentCongratulations to Luke Doerner and the Kookaburras on winning the World Cup in Delhi, India. It’s the 2nd time Australia has won the world cup and a fantastic achievement by the playing group.
Waverley’s own Luke Doerner played an integral part of the tournament and scored the winning goal with a cracking flick in to the bottom left hand corner to give the Kookaburras the lead. Capping off a successful tournament for Luke, he also managed to snag best a field in the final and scored himself a motorbike courtesy of the major tournament sponsor Honda.
Congratulations Luke, you’ve done the club proud. We look forward to seeing your medal when your back in town.
Thanks for the help at the working bee
Posted March 14th 2010 by Travis Brooks No CommentsOn a beautiful Sunday morning, many people ventured down to the club to help out with the yearly clean of the rooms and the ground. Although many still slighty under the weather from celebrating the Kookaburras win last night, people enthusiastically went about the big tasks of getting the club ready for the coming season.
A quick thanks for those that turned up and the power of work that was done. With the numbers down a bit on last year, we managed to power through the jobs listed and get the club looking ’shiny’ again.
Thanks to the following people who turned up (if I missed your name email me and I’ll add you to the list) I and the members of the house committee appreciate your efforts today, the club looks fantastic.

Waverley House Committee
The house committee is responsible for the facilities around the club, from the ground to the clubhouse and is always looking for members to chip in and give a hand. It’s not a big time committment and the effort is rewarding to see go around the club. Things like the projector and speakers installed as well as the framing of our club legends shirts are just a couple of things we have got going. Want to get involved? Please email Beth Merkus(bethmerkus@bigpond.com) or Travis Brooks (tnbrooks@gmail.com) for more details.

Did You Know? … Minkey is suitable for children of ALL ages who have never played or have limited hockey experience.
Posted March 5th 2010 by Nikki Gerling No CommentsMinkey aims to introduce children of all ages to the game of hockey.
The programme is designed to introduce children to the skills involved in field hockey in a safe, non-competitive atmosphere with the emphasis on involvement and fun. The children progress through skill levels gaining awards / certificates as they progress. The program runs on smaller sized field (than competition hockey) and consists of skill based activities and a simplified game.
