Junior Registration Update

Posted March 15th 2010 by Roger Andrews No Comments

The 2010 season now draws closer and all our Junior teams will have now commenced training as of this week. The Junior Committee is now in the process of finalising numbers for teams and age groups. We will again have an increase in players and teams for this year from the previous year. In the interest of ensuring that all junior players at Waverley have the opportunity to get plenty of game time on the pitch, that we need to place restriction on player numbers.

We are now currently fully subscribed to our U15 Boy’s teams so we are unable accept anymore registrations in this age group.

We have only 2 or 3 places left in U11 Mixed, U13 Boy’s & U15 Girl’s teams, so anyone who wishes to play in these age groups should register straight away or will be in jeopardy of missing out.

Also with the high number of boys who have registered for U13 teams, we are currently unable to fulfill any requests for U13 girls to play in mixed teams as well. If we were to do this it would have to be at the expense of keeping an U13 boy from playing this year.

Thanks for the help at the working bee

Posted March 14th 2010 by Travis Brooks No Comments

On a beautiful Sunday morning, many people ventured down to the club to help out with the yearly clean of the rooms and the ground. Although many still slighty under the weather from celebrating the Kookaburras win last night, people enthusiastically went about the big tasks of getting the club ready for the coming season.

A quick thanks for those that turned up and the power of work that was done. With the numbers down a bit on last year, we managed to power through the jobs listed and get the club looking ’shiny’ again.

Thanks to the following people who turned up (if I missed your name email me and I’ll add you to the list) I and the members of the house committee appreciate your efforts today, the club looks fantastic.

Minkey Coaching Workshops

Posted March 2nd 2010 by Rhys Eddy No Comments

The junior unit is running a series of coaching workshops for minkey parents and Waverley players to learn or improve their coaching skills. At each level a list of skills is associated with a requirement. At the Minkey workshop you will learn each of the core
hockey skills – how to break it down to teach it, skill level appropriate drills and how to run a game for Minkey kids.

The sessions run on Saturdays 13th, 20th March & 10th, 17th April from 10.45am to 12 noon at the club. There is no cost, to register contact Nikki on 0439 73 88 00 or by email at minkey@waverleyhc.org.au.
