Staying in touch during the season
The Waverley Hockey club web site and Junior Facebook site are used to keep all players and their families informed.
We encourage all players / families to go to the Waverley Junior Facebook page (link below or search for Waverley Hockey Club) and “like” it so that you receive all updates. And during the season teams can post their results and catchup on how the other teams have gone.

Pre season training: will start week 5th March
Start date: Friday / Saturday 13/14th April
Breaks: 8/9th June, 6/7th July
End date: Final round is 31st August / 1st September, semi finals are 7/8th September and Grand finals are 14/15th September

Minkey: Saturday morning 10.55 – 12
Under 9s Mixed: play Saturday morning (generally 9.45am or 10.55am slot)
Under 11s Mixed: play Saturday morning (generally 8.35, 9.45, 10.55am slots)
Under 13, 15, 17 Girl’s comp: play Friday nights (Under 13 generally 5.55, 7.05pm Under 15 generally 7.05, 8.15, Under 17 8.15, 9.25 slots)
Under 13, 15, 17 Boy’s comp: play Friday nights (Under 13 generally 5.55, 7.05pm Under 15 generally 7.05, 8.15, Under 17 8.15, 9.25 slots)

Club Fees
Unchanged from 2011.
Minkey: $120, includes a hockey set (bag, stick, ball, shin pads) 1st years and top 2nd years
Under 9: $195, includes all match fees. First year Under 9’s receive a club playing shirt
Under 11 to Under 17: $295, includes all match fees.
Note: Family discount 10% for third and subsequent children playing in the Junior unit
Note: Goalies: fees are $60 if supplying own equipment
Fee Breakdown
Waverley’s Junior fees may appear more expensive than some clubs but this is not the case. The difference is the Waverley fees are all inclusive, many clubs will charge extra during the season such as weekly match fees. The breakdown of the fees is as follows:
- Club Membership: $55, compulsory for all players including Minkeys
- Insurance: $30, compulsory for all players including Minkeys
- Hockey Victoria Junior affiliation: $30, fee that all junior players (apart from Minkey) must pay
- Underage playing fee, includes ground hire, umpires, equipments etc.. : $180, except for Under 9 (half field) and Minkey which are subsidized by the club: U9 $80 and Minkey $35
New to Hockey?
Waverley Hockey Club recommends under the age of 10 who have not played hockey before participate in the Minkey progam to develop basic skills before they play in a competitive team. As children move up the 12 Minkey skill levels the emphasis moves to preparing them to play in an age appropriate junior team such as the Under 9 or 11 competitions.
