Eastern Hotshots
2010 State Championships
In 2010 there will be 2 Junior State Championships for both boys and girls to be held at the State Hockey Centre:
• Under 13 and Under 15 -
28th June – 3rd July 2010
• Under 17-
1st – 3rd October 2010.
Trails for U-15 and U-13 age groups will be on May 2nd and May 9th, and applications for Junior State Championships will be processed centrally through Hockey Victoria online in 2010.

The Junior State Championships started in 1991 as the U13 State Championships and was initially created to allow four Melbourne Zone teams to compete against the Victorian Country team. Today the tournament is held annually and has U13, U14 and U15 Boys and Girls divisions. The championships also form the selection process for the HV junior state representative teams.
With a restructure implemented in 2010 by Hockey Victoria, there are now 10 Regional Zones, 6 Metro & 4 Country,
The Eastern Hotshots organisation now consists of Camberwell, Collegians X, ECHO, Knox, Monash Uni, Old Camberwell Grammar, Old Xaverians, Victorian Sikhs, Waverley clubs.
- Eastern Hotshots is a basis for organisation of playing, coaching, and umpiring development opportunities in the region.
- Junior State Championships is a component of Eastern Hotshots junior player development at U-13, U-15, and U-17 age groups. A total of 10 development zones from across country and metropolitan areas compete in this competition.

The state championships were very competitive and successful for Waverley’s zone affiliate (Southern Sharks). Waverley encourages all juniors to trial for next years state champs!
Parents
Southern sharks are also looking for anyone interested in joining their coaching teams or to be a selector at trial time. If you are interested in any of these above roles please contact before Tuesday March 3rd 2009.
