Waverley Hockey Club

Indoor & Summer

Waverley continues to host a strong number of teams registered for both outdoor social hockey as well as indoor hockey over the summertime. In 2008 Waverley had around 10 teams registered which catered for the competitive indoor types to the social mixed teams.

If you are interested in entering your own team over summer please talk to the Men’s President (Don Larter) well before the summer season dates or at the end of the winter season.

Summer

Waverley had around 5 outdoor social teams competing at a number of venues and divisions. Summer can still be very competitive but it is a chance for the Men’s and Women’s teams to get together and create a social mixed team for a hit.

Mixed competitions are held at Monash University (Clayton) on a Monday night. The “Dream Team” is entered into this competition every year and has come away with the flag the last 3 years in a row. If you are interested in playing please contact Em Paton.

Waverley Hockey Club also hosts its own mixed competition at Ashwood Reserve, on a Monday night. There is usually 2 to 3 teams from Waverley entered into this competition of 10 teams, which creates some great rivalries. To enter your own team for the competition or to find another team please contact Don Larter or Danita Eastman.

Dates – The mixed summer season starts at the end of October each year with a break starting a week into December. The second half of the season continues from the end of January with finals being played at the end of February.

Indoor

Waverley had around 3 Men’s indoor teams competing over each division held at either Monash University (Clayton) or Skateworld (Mordiallic).

Competitive indoor is held at Monash University, in the Victorian Indoor Super League competition, on a Sunday night. In the 2008 indoor season the Men made the Grand Final. Anyone looking to play in the Super League team should contact Danny Brennan or John Hooper.

Social indoor is held at Skateworld (Mordiallic) on a Monday night in 2 divisions (A and B). The standard is quite high and very fast in terms of game pace. All those interested in playing should contact Drew Ashton (?).

Dates – The indoor season starts at the end of October each year with a break starting a week into December. The second half of the season continues from the end of January with finals being played at the end of February.
