Doerner selected for World Cup
Posted February 8, 2010 at 1:10 pm by Travis BrooksWaverley’s own Luke Doerner has been selected to compete in his 2nd World Cup for the Kookaburras. This is a fantastic achievement for Luke and is another impressive event to add to his playing CV which already includes an Olympic Bronze medal, Commonwealth Games gold medal and a World Cup silver.
Being part of the team that went so close last time, Doerner will be hoping to take it one step further and bring home the World Cup Gold. Australia haven’t won the World Cup since 1986 when club legend Colin Batch was part of the successful team who defeated England on their home soil infront of Royalty to claim Australia’s only Men’s World Cup.
The club wishes Luke all the best for the tournament in New Delhi, India running from Feb 28th- March 13th.
The tournament will be shown live on Foxtel. Check your guides for times closer to the tournament.
