Mens Pennant C – Panthers Bury Burra

Posted June 18, 2006 at 7:50 pm by Rhys Eddy

With absence and injury affecting most of the teams at Waverley, Pennant C went into the game against Greensborough with a substantially different lineup to previous weeks. However, this did not deter us from the task at hand.

The first 10 minutes was lively for the panthers as we seemed to catch Greensborough napping. Some deft ball movement through the Tristan “Chopper” Larter in the middle saw some circle penetrations, twice finishing with Darryl Seedsman who crisply put away two of the best.

The game settled into a 50/50 game for the rest of the half with both teams having opportunities, Greensborough slotting two goals to make it 2-2 at the break.

Again, the Thirds caught Burra snoozing at the start of the second half. Rudy first “rocking the baby” from a PC and then having twins when he converted a stroke – awarded when a Burra defender, in face preservation mode, deflected a Rudy PC flick with his hand.

4-2 with ten minutes to go and Rudy is not sure if he is happy with twins or if he wants triplets, misses a first time tomma from the left hand side.

Mark Hocking has a rest for 10 minutes with a virus which leaves KB and Seb Mutimer to defend, which they did with aplomb, Seb again a solid perfomance. Greensborough managed to make it 4-3 as the panthers tired towards the end of the game, but we managed to hang on for the three points.
