mens pennant c – waves down yarra
Posted May 29, 2006 at 9:54 pm by Rhys EddyThe Thirds continued their winning ways downing Yarra 3-0 in what was a hard fought game. With SL1 and Pen A depleted by injury and absence, we started the game missing Seb, Cid and Rudy while Tristan, Mark H., Nick E. and Stu Mac all doubled up (via permits).
This didn’t stop the wagon as the team stuck to its game plan which produced several numerous opportunities moving into the circle in the first half. The first PC (10min) resulting in a Tristan goal, flicked low and left. Young Toby again showed he has much to offer moving well at most positions on the forward line and being a part of several attacking forrays.
Much of the first stanza was played in our attack, full backs Chris and Mark Hocking both playing in the front half and keeping the pressure on.
In the second half, the double up began to take its toll and we slowed down a little. Chris castle came on and slotted a goal against the run of play and then hit the post with another. On the left side both Daniel and Nick E. attacked well and surpassed this only with their defensive work, their second efforts being a lesson to us all.
