Met 2 South looking forward to top of the table clash

A sixth win on Saturday afternoon against Mentone had given the panthers second spot on the ladder and a chance to have a crack at top of the table and undefeated Monash University next Sunday at 2pm.

In a must win game to stay in second spot the panthers were challenged all day by the improving Mentone however tough defense by Talty, Miles, Skillern and Dunne kept them from any dangerous shots at the net. In fact Mentone did not get 1 shot off at the net which made things easy for Geoff in the goals.

Spence showed some great skills again and Bryan was on fire on the left wing going around anything in his path including the goal keeper with a first half goal. Aidy Miles again was solid as a rock in defense repelling many of Mentone’s attacking moves. Goals were hard to come by but a corner variation and good finish by Scott Jolly got the sealer half way through the second half.

Gillespie and Field battled hard on the forward line providing some great pressure and some turnovers. Foxy and Krieki battled hard all game with limited opportunities.

Final Score: 2-0

Best Players: Whetton, Miles, Skillern, Talty & Jolly

Goals: Whetton 1, Jolly 1.

Don Larter Votes: 3 Whetton, 2 Dunne, 1 Field.
