Metro 2 South Announce 2008 Signings

In what has been an indifferent pre season for the Metro 2 South team this weekend’s practice match against Monash Uni will be our last chance to start playing some good hockey before the season propper next Sunday.

In what was a much better effort last weekend the team has a blend of experience, youth and toughness that can match it with the whole competition in 2008. Lead by Captain Scott Jolly the plan in 08 is obviously to get off to a good start.

Adrian Miles at Full back in his second season for the panthers is looking as fit as ever and ready to step his game up in 08 as well as convert off more corners. The inclusion of James Webb out of retirement in 1989 his a plus as his running ability will create lots of pressure on oppositions coming out of defense and will complement us in attach.

2007 Don Later Award winner Shaun G Gillespie will return from a 2 week holiday with new partner Feli for his first hit out for 2008 with bigger expectations not only with Feli but indeed on the field in 2008. The ‘Tin Man’ Anthony Field has got his eye in with a nice pre season strike last week and is looking more and more comfortable on the forward line.

The Metro 2 South boys would like to wish all Wavelrey Teams the best of luck in 2008 and look forward to celebrating the highs and lows together again.
