This looks like a great idea, a few of us have been playing around with designs on the kukri site and when we added a small amount of pale blue, (like our alternate socks) it helped the white stand out a bit more from the navy.

Just a suggestion but were excited for the jumpers anyway :)

Design 3 has been done a hundreds of times…. go with something new..like design 2

I do agree with SL1 Panther, #3 has been done, but it’s got the heritage look… I’d like girls to think about how bad #2 could make the chest area look….

I like either 2(modern WAV) or the traditional 3. The modern 2 will go well with the current shorts we have used the past few years.

Anyone that reads this post take the 2 seconds to vote to help the committee make the decision as you will be wearing it!!

Hope preseason is going well back home :)

Design 3 is the daggiest, 80’s, mummies boy, camberwell style top. Get with the times – stonewash jeans and desert boots are out – vote top 1 !!!!

  6. Posted by Tiger Woods on March 10th, 2010 11:54 am

Design 3 is just too cliche. Been done way too many times.
Design 2 would be best suited to the current uniform.

You may knock Camberwell’s traditional top but you have to admit it’s the one hockey club whose supporters are instantly recognisable. Isn’t the sense of belonging to the club an imporatnt criteria in selection rather than the pseudo fashion choice. Not sure Collingwood, Hawthorn, Geelong are that keen to do away with their stripes… The hoop is instantly recognisable and a reminder of our history. For all you fashionistas out there it should be noted the collar and cut of the top are not the old fleecy knit rugby tops but a modern Kukri design. Vote 3!

No 2 all the way. It will always be stylish when Waverley wear it!

    design 4 for sure. 3 is a shocker …..
i would happily wear design 1 or 2 also

Looks like Design 4 is out of the equation, but for Designs 1, 2 and 3 it’s anyones game! Keep the votes coming in and spread the word!

    HI All,
I think because design 1 and 2 are so similar (both good) thats why the vote is so split. My guess is that voters on 1 and 2 would be happy with either so would argue you could almost join those votes together. My two cents. Well done on organising this and for seeking input. Whichever is chosen is cool. Kirst

Good point Kirst, maybe make this is Semi final, with Grand Final with top 2?

it needs to match the waverley on-field apparel.

On this note, design 3 is out of it straight away. The horizontal stripe does not at all match in with other waverley uniforms/merchandise.

Design 2 matches uniform best so is the go.

Not sure that rugby jerseys are any kind of fashion statement, it’s our uniform and it should make us look like we’re all from our club. Sure the Camberwell rugby (Hawthorn also have a similar version) is traditional, not modern, but they do stand out. I actually don’t think #3 fits the bill, not because some people think it looks old-fashioned, but because it looks like a thousand other clubs might have it (have voted #2 btw). Hope that opening this up for debate encourages some more of the girls to wear their uniform!

Good point Spewa. Def not 3 it’s not very flattering. I still think 4 is the best ……. I like the white strip down the outside

Design #2 best suits our current uniform, it compliments it quite well.
Design #1 doesn’t really flow all that well, the front is nice but the back is pretty strange. #2 is easily the best and most suited to our uniform.

If we go for a fashion garment then it needs to be updated every three years or so. (Think about what is in your wardrobe that is three years old, that you still wear!) That means if we change the tops every so often, we really never have one top that everyone wears so the club can be recognised/united by, as there are so many different tops/ tracksuits. Those in older fashion garments just look daggy. The fashion tops go out of fashion. Traditional tops such as Camberwell live on.
So the question is, Is the purpose of this garment a fashion garment or to unite us as a club, be recognised as one for a long period of time. The later is what Camberwell has done and footy clubs do, that is why they work. We can do this too as we are one of the oldest clubs. New clubs don’t have this option.
Economics- We are a seasonal sports run by volunteers. A traditional top makes more sense in this department re ordering and cost effectiveness. Can players afford to buy a fashion garment every three or so years. If not, then does a fashion garment achieve the purpose of the top?
So, if Waverley has a traditional top that unifies the club people can purchase over time and eventually have us looking like a club. Imagine a sea of these tops on the hill at the SHC SL1 Women’s and Men’s Grand Final this year…now that is a club!

Good points Coco Chanel, a perspective I never considered.
Interesting that the results are now tied!!
Will be interesting to see where it goes from here!

It is great that we are receiving the views of the whole of club. It is only by these open discussions that we understand the direction and views of the whole of club.Voting is starting to slow, and we will have to end the survey shortly. We will need the views on how we proceed if the vote is tied, to ensure we can have tops made ready for the seasons start.

    Easily #3 its so original

  21. Posted by KBM on March 14th, 2010 10:21 am

The three members in this household agree that design # 2 looks best. Unfortunately it appears we cannot connect with the link to lodge our three votes!

No. 3 is gayyyyyyyyyy No.2 all the way it matches our uniform

Design 2 or 4 are great – I prefer design 4 but it looks as though it has no chance so I will choose design 2 – It is modern and sleek – design 3 looks like school jumper
