Waverley Hockey Club

Umpiring Seminar – May 16

Posted May 9, 2010 at 4:21 pm by Roger Andrews

In conjunction with Camberwell Hockey Club, we have organised an umpires training seminar to be held at 11.15 am on 16 May at Waverley Hockey Club’s ground in Winbirra Parade, Ashwood, just off High Street.  The aim of the seminar is to provide training for players, parents and spectators who are keen to learn more about hockey umpiring and to provide the theoretical base for those wishing to obtain HV/HA umpire accreditation.  The session is suitable for all standards but is aimed at those looking to obtain HV accreditation and should last around 90 minutes.

The seminar will follow the theoretical training program as established by Hockey Australia for the “Beginner Umpire Program” which includes an assessment to ensure successful completion.  Following completion of this training and assessment, and registration with HV/HA, interested umpires can seek practical assessment (under match conditions) to obtain umpires accreditation, that is, under old HV language, badging.

Jim Unkles, current SL1 umpire and Camberwell player, together with both Roger Andrews (Waverley) and Simon Day (Camberwell) will facilitate the session.  There is no cost for attending the seminar, but please note that there is a HA registration fee of $50 should you wish to be registered after the event.  (Waverley will provide some rebate to all members to this cost . A final decision on this rebate will be made following the seminar.)  For those already registered with HA please let us know on the day.

Could you please confirm your attendance via email: sday@canterburyhill.com.au.
