Posted May 11th 2009 by Rhys Eddy No CommentsWhat a great night to celebrate 50 years of Waverley Hockey Club! It was great to have founding members Hedley Hull, Les Large, Kingsley Hull and Arthur Tuckett in attendance.
I would like to pass on special thanks to the following people whom contributed enormously over the last couple of months to make this such a fabulous night. Don Trewin for MC on the night, Roger Andrews for last minute printing deadlines, Beth Merkus for guidance and feedback to the Club Committee, Ian Hocking for the Club’s determination to pursue this event, Di Robbie & Antony Green for co-ordinating the Teams of the First 50, Sue-Anne Hocking for artwork, Drew Ashton for the presentations and especially the Organising Committee of Drew, Ant, Rach, Jess and Bronwyn for delivering a great night. – Brian Maddock
ps. Do you have any great photos of the night? Please forward to waverleyhc@live.com for inclusion in the Waverley Hockey Club 1959-2009 Signature Frame.

Posted February 22nd 2009 by Rhys EddyWELL DONE GIRLS
Posted February 2nd 2009 by Rhys Eddy No CommentsThanks to all of the girls who helped out at Bunning’s yesterday, and to Chook and Beth for arranging at short notice. It was a good earner.
The generation of external funds at this time of the year is very important to use.
The committee is concerned with the present economic situation and the effect it may have or may have already had on the clubs families. As such we will not be changing the fee structure of last year. The fees you pay cover costs directly related to playing and training. Items such as affiliation, training equipment, umpires, ground costs, security, electricity, gas etc. Fundraising provides funds for upgrading, enhancing and undertaking out of the ordinary repairs of the facility.
Yesterday work was undertaken to repair the 11 lights that were not operating. What was thought initially to be a replacing globes job only turned out to be a bit more. The funds generated by the girls yesterday will go towards these repairs.
The other large repair happening within the next few weeks is the repair to both ends of the surface. We are hoping that it will be completed by the end of February.
When someone does ask you to help with a fundraiser, please ensure you participate and they usually only take a couple of hours of your time. External funds are so important to help us maintain the facility we all enjoy.
