Canteen Roster – From now!
Posted June 3rd 2009 by Travis Brooks No CommentsPlease find below the Canteen Roster for the remainder of Season 2009. The Roster has been drawn up on a ‘convenience’ basis, ie. you play then stick around afterwards to help out. At least 2 people from each team are required, 1 person to man the bar and the other the canteen.
Only teams are stated for specific times, its up to each team to generate a roster around these times. Thanks in advance for helping out around the club. It’s not a huge commitment but one that is needed to ensure the club has success off the field as well as on.
Cheers Trav.

Thank Yous & Photos WHC 50th Celebrations
Posted May 11th 2009 by Rhys Eddy No CommentsWhat a great night to celebrate 50 years of Waverley Hockey Club! It was great to have founding members Hedley Hull, Les Large, Kingsley Hull and Arthur Tuckett in attendance.
I would like to pass on special thanks to the following people whom contributed enormously over the last couple of months to make this such a fabulous night. Don Trewin for MC on the night, Roger Andrews for last minute printing deadlines, Beth Merkus for guidance and feedback to the Club Committee, Ian Hocking for the Club’s determination to pursue this event, Di Robbie & Antony Green for co-ordinating the Teams of the First 50, Sue-Anne Hocking for artwork, Drew Ashton for the presentations and especially the Organising Committee of Drew, Ant, Rach, Jess and Bronwyn for delivering a great night. – Brian Maddock
ps. Do you have any great photos of the night? Please forward to waverleyhc@live.com for inclusion in the Waverley Hockey Club 1959-2009 Signature Frame.
Robbie dominates as Met 3 scrape through for win No: 1
Posted April 26th 2009 by Rhys Eddy No CommentsIn what was a game of two halves the Metro 3 boys won 3-2 against Old Camberwell. The first half was all Waverley as the game was played in Waverley’s forward half for the whole half. The team had over a dozen chances only capitalising with 2 to half time.
The second half saw the game open up and Old Camberwell started to play a longer game and put more pressure on the panthers midfield and defense. Jason Janes and Rob Moore competed well to hold out the onslaught late in the game as Old Camberwell hit 2 goals to 1 in the second half.
Robbie Moore who was sensational on the dance floor at Albury transfered some of the fancy foot work onto the right side of the field producing many forward thrusts throughout the whole game.
In the end the boys were happy to take the points but a lot of work needs to be done.
Score: 3-2
Best: Moore, Robinson, Skillern, Janes
Goals: Dobbins (21), Cox (24), Skillern (43)
Next week will be Daniel ‘can drum, I’m in a rock band’ Dobbins 300th at home at Waverley all members are welcome to come down to watch the match V’s Doncaster and stick around for a drink at the club. Game starts at 5pm Saturday.

FENLOW – Metro Hitout
Posted September 29th 2008 by Rhys Eddy No CommentsThis weekend is the Fenlow, a day where the Metro teams go head to head for team supremacy!
At present we are looking at the two Metro 2 teams going head to head with the mixture of some Metro 3 players coming down. If we get a few met 3 then we could have 3 games as a round robin type event.
Kick off is at 12:30 with the game starting at 1:00 or so…
Remember this is a Social game and normally involves the forwards playing backs or goal keeper and the backs playing forward. So bring your happy smiley faces along.
The proceedings for the day goes:
12:30 Arrange teams and possibly a Warm up but doubt it
1:00 Game Time
3:00 The Bang Bang Brown 20/100
BBQ
3:30 3,2,1 votes – Metro 2 East
Times could change depending on the number of players we have down there.
All welcome for a fun day,
For more details please contact Mark Fenson on 0402 481 836.
