Hi, just letting you all know that there will be pratice matches on sunday arvo for the metro boys and pennant b at hawthorn’s 2nd ground. Metro at 2 pm and the pennant boys at 330 pm. Get there about half an hour before.

The Grand Final of The Hockey Show Cup Men’s competition will be held at Waverley this Saturday 5th April at 2.00pm. Waverley and Greensborough will be the competing teams. Pennant A will also be playing a match starting at 12.30pm. Please come out and watch our last practice match before the season starts.

This weekend (29h March) Waverley men and women will be having practice matches. The men are playing the semi final of the hockey show cup against Camberwell. Mens PA are playing at 12:30, Mens SL1 are at 2:00pm and the women SL1 are playing at 3:30. The women are playing TEM. There will be a sausage or two available so come on down and have a look see.

Waverley hockey club is having a BBQ start-of-season get together on the 28th of February. All are asked to attend to get the season going with some cheer. All grades are asked to attend:We want to fire up this year! With new coaches and renewed commitment from others we are in for a big year. Encourage your hockey playing mates to join the club and continue to experience the joys of the bent stick and hard ball. Keep an eye on the website for further details. Start time is about 8pm Be there!!

Commencing Tuesday 5th February 2008
A meeting will be held prior to training from 6.30 – 6.45pm to introduce the new coaches for the year, PA Coach – Rachael Rowe and PD Coach – Courtney Mann, we will be talking about which direction the club will head in season 2008.
We will all meet at the Ashwood College grass oval on High Street, Car Parking at the ground (Corner Cassinia Ave and Frames St).
Less than 5 mins from the Waverley Ground.
Please bring your Runners, Hat, Sun Scream and Drink Bottle.

For the women section to get more professional on and off the ground this year we have engaged a personal trainer with us for the preseason training, so she can get us fit for the season ahead, if things work out we may keep the personal trainer with us for the winter season.

We all need to improve our fitness level form last year by at least 30% or more for all of us to be able to run out a game, our warm up needs to improve before games, including proper stretching before and after games. The personal trainer’s role will also manage player injuries, during game day and at trainings nights and report back to me before selection.

If any girls wishing to play in State League 1, Pennant A or Pennant D, a maximum attendance rate is required at preseason training.

March 12th Waverley Girls will play U18 Girls at the SHC – 6.00pm to 7.30pm.

Extra – curricular activities during preseason will include swimming, ladder work, hurdles, basketball and boxing.

Please let all your team mates know about our training, we are looking for a big turn out on the 5th of Feb

Training for Men’s State League 1 & Pennant A players started back on Tuesday 15th January. Our fitness coach Nathan Heaney is back too. We have been training mostly at Electra Reserve on Tuesday and Thursdays at 7pm. If you are wanting to come along please call Brett Thompson on 0402181250 and I will confirm the venue

Hi Gents,

All current and aspiring State League players are asked to attend the first night of pre-season for the 2008 season.Details are: Tuesday 4th December 7pm @ Waverley Hockey Club. We will have a short meeting followed by a light fitness session. Please call Brett Thompson on 0402181250 if you can’t make it. Training throughout December will be on Tuesday and Thursday nights at this stage from 7-8pm. It is recommended that you should go for a minimum of 4-5 runs before our first session.

ATTENTION ALL METRO PLAYERS!!

The 2008 season will kick of this Thursday at 44 Springfield Rd Box Hill North. Andrew and Shaun invite you to their place to go for a run and a BBQ around the tree lined streets.

Time: 6.30pm Start. Bring runners – no need for a stick.
