Thank Yous & Photos WHC 50th Celebrations
Posted May 11th 2009 by Rhys Eddy No CommentsWhat a great night to celebrate 50 years of Waverley Hockey Club! It was great to have founding members Hedley Hull, Les Large, Kingsley Hull and Arthur Tuckett in attendance.
I would like to pass on special thanks to the following people whom contributed enormously over the last couple of months to make this such a fabulous night. Don Trewin for MC on the night, Roger Andrews for last minute printing deadlines, Beth Merkus for guidance and feedback to the Club Committee, Ian Hocking for the Club’s determination to pursue this event, Di Robbie & Antony Green for co-ordinating the Teams of the First 50, Sue-Anne Hocking for artwork, Drew Ashton for the presentations and especially the Organising Committee of Drew, Ant, Rach, Jess and Bronwyn for delivering a great night. – Brian Maddock
ps. Do you have any great photos of the night? Please forward to waverleyhc@live.com for inclusion in the Waverley Hockey Club 1959-2009 Signature Frame.
World Masters news
Posted March 14th 2009 by Rhys Eddy No CommentsThe following has been received regarding the World Masters Games being held in Sydney in October
As you will be aware, the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games are coming! In just eight months from now, 25,000 competitors from over 100 countries will be congregating in Sydney to experience all it has to offer – world class sporting competition and venues and internationally acclaimed hospitality.
Hockey is one of the 28 Sports included in the games and competition will be held from 10 to 18 October (inclusive).
Organisers are aware that both the Men’s (Melbourne) and Women’s (Hobart) National Veterans Championships will finish on Saturday 10 October, providing a clash of dates between these two events. With this in mind, it is envisaged that teams playing finals games of the National Veterans Championships on Saturday 10 October will be given a day’s ‘grace’ in the schedule with their Games competition commencing on Sunday 11 October. If your team is likely to be in the finals for either the Men’s or Women’s National Veterans Championships on Saturday 10 October, 2009, and you are registered for the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games, please email your details to carlie.m@hockeynsw.com.au
The Sydney 2009 World Masters Games is a ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ opportunity and it is sincerely hoped that this measure will assist those hockey lovers wishing to be involved in both events.
If you have any queries about the Sydney 2009 World Masters Games, please phone +61 2 8116 2009 or go to the Games website www.2009worldmasters.com
